Sunday School

Discipleship is an important part of our growth as followers of Christ. For this reason, we offer Sunday School classes for all ages as a way to intentionally grow in our faith and to connect with one another. Classes are open to new participants at any time. Questions? E-mail Amy Carlan.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Class Name: Adult Bible Study
Room:A-212
Description: This class will be in John chapters 1-8 for the fall semester and will complete the book in the spring.

Topic: The Epic of Eden

Class Name: Eagle’s Wings
Room:
A-211
Topic: The Epic of Eden
Description: Does your knowledge of the Old Testament feel like a grab bag of people, books, events and ideas? How many times have you resolved to really understand the OT… to finally make sense of it? Through videos by Dr. Sandra Richter and class discussion, this class will explore the history of God’s redeeming grace in the Old Testament, weaving together a story that runs from the Eden of the Garden to the garden of the New Jerusalem.

Topic: Paul’s Prison Letters: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon

Class Name: Open Circle
Room: A-216
Description: The Open Circle is a discussion-based Sunday school class that seeks to tie Scripture to everyday life. This year, with the help of New Testament scholar N.T. Wright, this class will read through the letters Paul wrote to churches while imprisoned.

Topic: Ruth and Jonah

Class Name: Students of the Word
Room: A-208
Description: Ruth and Jonah are two compelling stories of the Old Testament. Ruth speaks to what it means to live a life of faith “everyday” in troubled times. Jonah focuses on a “lifer in the faith” who thinks he has God all figured out before God upends his world and expectations. With the help of videos from Dr. Sandra Richter, this class will discuss how the Lord continues to shape us into His people through the stories of Ruth and Jonah.

Topic: Ephesians: Coming Alive in Christ

Class Name: Younger Adults
Room: A-215
Description: Building on previous studies in C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity, this class will read Paul’s letter to the Ephesians as a biblical guide for the Body of Christ on how to become “children of the light.”
